Prague Summer Nights Young Artists Music Festival
MMC will connect deserving applicants with potential scholarship to the Prague Summer Nights Young Artists Music Festival, with a particular goal being to improve access to prestigious training to young people of color for singers, instrumentalists, stage directors, assistant conductors and arts administrators.
Prague Summer Nights (PSN) is an opera and orchestra festival produced annually in Prague and Tabor in the Czech Republic. PSN gives young musicians and aspiring performing arts professionals the opportunity to study with world-class faculty and to perform concerts and fully staged operas in historic venues.
Student singers, instrumentalists, conductors, coaches, stage directors and arts administrators spend one month in the cities of Prague and Tabor, with rigorous daily schedules that include group rehearsals, individual coaching sessions and instruction by faculty (including leading musicians from many of the world’s most famous orchestras, opera houses and conservatories), masterclasses with world-renowned soloists and instructors and public performances. For many, this represents their first opportunity to travel, let alone study internationally; this is especially valuable for students of classical music and opera, of which Prague is a major cultural center. Alumni of PSN have performed at venues including the Metropolitan Opera, Washington National Opera and Paris Opera.
